This final project report presents the Phase 2 feasibility study for the South African Kelp Farming Project. It examines the potential to develop a sustainable kelp farming industry in South Africa, building on Phase 1 pre-feasibility work and focusing on cultivation trials, hatchery and nursery work, environmental and regulatory considerations, stakeholder engagement, and blue-economy opportunities. The report documents progress toward full life-cycle cultivation of local kelp species in an aquaculture setting and considers pathways for job creation, food security, marine ecosystem benefits and commercial development.
